Alsahwa Net-The Abductees’ Mothers Association appealed on Monday for saving lives of the arbitrary detainees in Bair Ahmed Prison of Aden, against the COVID-19 risk.

44 arbitrary detainees have been in illegal confinement in Aden since 2016 amid repeated international calls for their immediate release to save their lives from the COVID-19 risks.

The association said that it was infirmed about the dire situation in Bair Ahmed Prison where one of the guards died there of unknown disease.

It called on the prime minister, minister of justice and all concerned organizations to assume responsibility towards protection and safety of the detainees.

It appealed to the UN Secretary General, the UN Commissioner for Human Rights and the command of the Saudi-led coalition in Aden to exercise pressure for swift release of the detainees.

It asked the World Health Organization (WHO) to visit Bair Ahmed Prison and support the local health authority to take appropriate health measures to prevent spread of the COVID-19 infection among the detainees.
